4 out of 5 stars Great in Shepherd's Pie   July 7, 2009

Swiss steaks are really good cut up and mixed with green beans or peas, a can of mushroom soup and the gravy...add mashed potatoes on top and you have shepherds pie! Better than the real meat version in my family's opinion!

My husband and son are vegetarians. I am not and we all love it. My son is 2 yrs old and a picky eater. He will eat this out of the can... no questions asked. We usually serve it with mashed potato. I recommend this as well as the chili- that's my favorite.

with hains brown gravy, and peas and corn and potatoes, you can make a great stew! or open a can and grab a slice and have a sandwich ! good stuff, good feeling knowing you are helping the animals by not eating them.

5 out of 5 stars Swiss Stake Review   March 2, 2009
Josey Angus (South Carolina)
The Loma Linda Swiss Stake product is great. If you are in a hurry you can just open can and heat for a hearty meal with mashed potatoes and vegetable or salad. I like to use them, however, in recipes that call for other items to stretch them and make more patties in a casserole dish to bake for fellowship meals after church.
They work quite well when using them as the base for "Manhattan meatless Meatballs or Patties".

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Veggie Fare   February 4, 2009

I have been a vegetarian for the past 16 years and have purchased Loma Linda swiss steak by the individual cans in health food stores dozens of times. I was delighted to find it available by the case on Amazon.com. It is hands down my favorite veggie meat substitute. It is delicious and filling and you only need to nuke it in the microwave and add some veggies to make a full, satisfying meal. This is a huge plus for a commuter who works full time like I do. I really can't say enough about the product. I eat it often, and always keep some cans on hand. The gravy is delicious!
